Murray Taylor is an artist first
and foremost, or at least that is how I see him. He must be a heck
of a manager as well, because in the few years I've known him he's climbed
the ladder all the way to World-Wide Art Director of Hasbro Interactive,
and is now Studio Head of Hunt Valley Infogrames. Yikes.
He was already well immersed and highly respected in the field when I met him around 1994. I was working as an informal intern at the Philadelphia Alias/Wavefront office, and he frequently attended the user group meetings I helped to organize. I can vaguely remember how I first learned of him. I think I was setting out literature when he entered the meeting, and one of the other employees nudged me and whispered- "That's Murray Taylor. He's really good!"
Well, they were right. Murray has sent me some scans of his seaside paintings and they have the most beautiful quality about them; peaceful pastels spilling out thunder and surf, he somehow captured the dynamics and soul of the ocean. He's sent some of his 3D stills as well, and they are brilliant and filled with energy. He has a keen eye, a sharp mind, and a generous heart. They don't get much better than Murray.
